Maryland Film Festival is showing a 35mm print of John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi/horror classic THE THING on one of the largest screens in Maryland -- Baltimore's historic Charles Theatre. It's Thursday 10/21, 9pm, $5.

The screening will be hosted by Baltimore musician DAN DEACON and his frequent collaborator, filmmaker and visual artist JIMMY JOE ROCHE. It's part of a new film series looking at 70s-90s genre cinema curated and hosted by Dan and Jimmy called GUNKY'S BASEMENT.

Each screening will also have an original silkscreened poster created by a Baltimore artist.
