The Sequins - Someday You'll Be Mine. Just an excellent piece of mid tempo female soul. If you don't like this you probably have no soul left.
Kool and Together - Sitting on a Red Hot Stove. As hot as or hotter than an actual red hot stove.
Ricky Allen - No Better Time Than Now. Slow, drinking-whiskey-in-a-swamp vibes.

I can see where it would be too slick/70's for you - I generally lean toward the 60's and the rawness (and lately earlier and earlier in the 60's, too. 1963 is like "my year" these days haha) myself, but something about that Dozier record just really works for me. It's definitely on the "grown n sexy" tip.

my idiot self couldnt figure out why its a bad idea to take pics on a glass table...camera wanted to focus on what was through the hole...duh..but at least it will give you an idea what to look for, he also has a record just called "will travel" but I dont know what that one sounds like
Here it is - yeah, it's more of a knock-off of the Richard Berry song used to make a tribute to the TV show "Have Gun Will travel" that was on the air at the time ... totally awesome, though - especially that guitar solo!
