New Yorkers, can you confirm the truth of this?

  • ???"Other incidents that prompted citizens to pick up and leave included the sight of garbage bags stacked 5 feet high on the sidewalk; the realization that being alone among millions of anonymous people is actually quite horrifying; a blaring siren that droned on and fucking on; muddy, refuse-filled puddles that have inexplicably not dried in three years; the thought of growing into a person whose meanness and cynicism is cloaked in a kind of holier-than-thou brand of sarcasm that the rest of the world finds nauseating; and all the goddamn people."

That's why I live in Dirty Jerz versus the Rotten Apple (though I love to kick it there, though). I'm getting too old to deal with that level of stimulation (good and bad) on a daily basis.

Exactly. The din of car horns and ambulance sirens 24-7 is NOT my thing. I don't care how "glamorous" the place is or how good the food is. COUNTRY > THE CITY.

No. LI is out. And I'll still work here, and keep my apartment on mulberry. And my family has done the same thing of moving in and out of NYC from Westchester and the Bronx for the last 170 years. One generation moves in, then out, then in and then the next.

Im way past the glamour stuff that's for New Jersey and tourists.

I prefer the diversity of NYC. The Burbs and them are way too homogenous.

Beyond the obvious, large disparity in population size, I think Somerset fared quite well in the diversity comparison, at least demographically.
