Hello strutters,

I found a random mix on the innanets that looked like it had a pretty good tracklisting without ever hearing of the DJ before. Turned out to be a set by Ashley Beedle. School me on this dude.... I been looking for some of his stuff online, and seems pretty good. He's done remixes of Bob Marley, Bill Withers, and a bunch of reggae/dub stuff.

Here's the mix i was talking about.

    remember 8 years ago when he was with X-press 2. Still might be. They rocked it a dj set at a club called centrofly in NY. Truely amazing dj set. I used to buy any vinyl release that had their name attached to it. real quality stuff. you might want to check X-press 2 out aswell

    This Discogs page is pretty good although the bio seems to cut off circa 2000.

    Yeah that's a reasonable entry into his music. Run out today and grab both the Ballistic Brothers albums. Also the Revolutions in Dub EP is fantastic.

    the black science orchestra ones are all great. of the afro art 12"s, my favourite is headspace lullaby.

    Such a good DJ, and his depth of knowledge when it comes to music is phenomenal. We have a few mutual friends, and I used to see him out and about quite a bit when he was still with Simone, but I haven't seen him for years.

    He also had some involvement in this early UK house classic, from his days as part of the Shock soundsystem (who were one of the highlights of my first ever Notting Hill Carnival in '91);

    He's always been involved in quality nights and a lot of his stuff is worth buying on spec. Ballistic Brothers and Black Science were highpoints for me and the Xpress stuff is good but his recent project using collaborators to cover Staples Singers tracks is also nice and worth checking - it's just called Mavis. Not really typical of his housey stuff but good all the same.
