Visiting NYC (yes, another one of these)

I'll be visiting NYC for a few days at the end of September. Can anyone recommend a place to stay in China Town or in that vicinity? I've already got a few in mind but thought I'd ask before making the plunge. Price is key.

    there is a howard johnsons on Houston street. 2-4 blocks north of chinatown

    Don't really know about a lot of the hotels down there, but heave heard the Sohotel is cheap.
