Jackson 5 covering Sly and Family Stone?

I got this dude who swears he's heard a recording where the J5 or MJ cover Sly and the Family Stone's "You Can Make It If We Try" (and no, it's not to be confused with the Sylvers' "We Can Make It If We Try.")

I don't recall ever hearing this cover nor has google turned up anything useful. Anyone know what he may be talking about?

    Never heard of it, but they did cover "Stand!" on the Goin' Back To Indiana TV special soundtrack.

    Yeah, I'm wondering if it might have been a live performance of "Stand" that worked in a few other Sly songs in a medley fashion.

    It's coming back to me...
    IIRC that album had both "Stand!" and "I Want To Take You Higher," but no side references to any other Sly Stone songs
