I don't know if I would be held for mentioning such, but I was curious if anyone else on the boards is into any kind of house. Peace.

Yeah there are plenty of folk on here who are into house. There is usually a thread about house every few months.

I keep on trying to find some house that I like but it's been pretty hard so far.

    Moodymann kills it

  • I just piked up two Crydamoure label compilations, Waves Vol 1&2.

Label is run by Guy-Manuel from Daft Punk, and though it's not *deep* like Moodyman, it's just good 'ol funky french house like they used to make.

Definetely a fave of mine alongside Theo Parrish. Detroit got that slow'n'sloppy sampleheavy house thang locked. If you like Moodymann, you should check out this guy Henrik Schwartz as well. I've got a 12" with a track called "Chicago" that mutates the Roy Ayers track by the same name in the illest way.

I think his label's site got some got some good DJ mixes online:

i know those guys are the king dons for alot of peeps but i really just can't get all that excited about moodyman, parrish, osunlade.

that really deep spiritual house stuff just doesnt do it for me. plus the sampling turns me off.

im way more interested in the scuzzy cosmic shit coming out of europe these days.

Anyone saying that house is boring these days ain't looking hard enough. Quality house music can be found all over the world (NYC, Stockholm, Tokyo, Berlin etc).

Gotta have HOUSE.....music. Was heavy into house early-mid 90's. Pre Mayor Rudy Guiliani era. Palladium, Tunnel, LimeLight, Robots. Man at that time I could not get enough. every weekend was like a circus event at NYC night clubs. Man the shit I witnessed in those spots would make porn look like cosby show.
Anything masters at work, osunlade, yoruba, kaskade, blaze, OM records, im diggin now. mostly afrobeat, funk, now but sometimes I just get on a House binge and head to satellite records or Dance Tracks for my vinyl fix.

Have fun with your bandwith: off the nizzy balearic bliss - mixes by Harvey, Citizen Kane (recommended), Diesel, Greg Wilson, Phil Mison,... and plenty of cheeky edits too.

I enjoy hearing in the cluuuub, It's one of those genres I think it's good there's a lot of good DJs involved with so I don't have to learn about it... I do want to hear some good house music now and then, but there's so much music to keep up with...

Meikbar is on the mellow disco vibe. The "Feelings/Sunshine" 12" is dope - got that, but I haven't heard more stuff from him. What's up?

On the subject of Theo Parrish, anyone doubting him or his peers should check the 12" he did under the alias Rusty Waters: "Illumination". Beautiful lowdown spiritual house played on live instruments with the nicest vocal. And I love all the old edit-style shit he did as well.

that meikbar was on rush hour right? I don't have it, but I recall it being quite good.........

needs have their moments, but I haven't heard much interesting lately. Their Ian Pooley rmx is great.

I'm more into the japanese groove/nujazz scene, and some of those dudes will throw out a great house track once in a while. Jazztronik being the best of the lot. I can hear Dubious cringing at gasp "nujazz"...

typical nyc maw, blaze stuff puts me to sleep. They've put out the exact same records for the past 5-6 yrs now. Bongoes and flutes = yawn, but that shit runs the toronto thursday dj circle jerk scene.

That shit's been sounding the same for 12 years. In the UK they probably call it "progressive garage".

Early on, dude was popular with the raergroove crowd who got into pill popping. Then he went all hardcore and then he went all Jeff Mills. Some classics in this clip though: A.S.T., Final Cut, Candi Staton, The Chimes, Rhythmatic...

Yousendit is giving me big issues today, but I doubt this will blow up my bandwidth like the Mashup vid!
