Geto Boys - My Mind Playing Tricks On Me remix 12"
Never seen this one before - what's it like?
nice fricken work, so many bangers in there. Brings me back to my high school days when i would go to a record shop and alot of those records were new releases. Things have changed since then, haha.
It has a different beat-less intro with dialogue and the rest of the tracks have a remixed beats. I'll rip a copy if I have time tonight or this weekend.
I haven't really touched them yet. I've gone through maybe 4 out of 40 boxes so far and have pulled out some decent soul and a couple garage 45s. No raers yet. I don't really expect to find anything worth too much out of the lot though. From what I can tell the collection was owned by someone that owned jukeboxes. Most of it is fairly common pop from various genres and sorted into collections of records by a particular artist. So someone like Barry White will have 30 different records together and sometimes 3 to 5 copies of each record. I really need to start going through them all and sort out what I want to keep. I've just been super busy with the 9 month old twins and usually the only free time I have is after I put them to bed. Ahh the joys of fatherhood... At least I get to get out and buy records once in a while.
Here's the 9 minute "Extended Club Mix"
Terrible remix.
Damn, this is awful
The R&B Radio Mix sounds more like the original. I'll encode it later.
Nice score Rey
oluko imo- praise jah
eugene mcdaniels- outlaw
active force- s/t
7 NM pebbles compilations
Sheeba Baby OST (like this one!)
Gary Numan "Pleasure Principle"
Norman Connors "Dark Of Light" (really like this one!)
Willard Burton "Warm The Pot (Till It Gets Good And Hot)" / "Let Me Be Your Pacifier" (Money)
Max Romeo "Reconstruction"
Max Roach "Freedom Now Suite"
Al Green "Gets Next To You"
Con Funk Shun "Organized" (early material, I guess? Feeling it.)
Ahmad Jamal "Extensions"
Stan Getz "Early Stan"
Frank Duval & Orchestra "...'Derrick' & 'Der Alte'" (not that great as far as typical detective TV series music goes, but sparked a nice conversation with a German couple bringing this up - for whatever reason I forgot - at the beach at my buddies' BBQ. Guess this was a popular TV show?)
The Sons And Daughters "From Within" (Custom Fidelity, '71...Christian church folk music glee club sort of thing. Instruments are well recorded and the monochrome cover is pretty cool for $1, though)
Shelly Manne "...2, 3, 4"
The "R and B Radio Mix".
Sounds like they just cleaned the language up and added the radio bit at the beginning of this one.
took advantage of the Arhoolie deadstock to mint up with sealed copies
I'd been after a clean Bobby Hebb for ages, the Joe Hicks also looks unplayed, Albert King's guitar tone on that LP is brutal
Bobby & Laurie is an upgrade, great LP that I think someone else on here posted up in a finds thread semi-recently. Krug Bros is pretty boned out.
Big Sandy rocks if rockabilly revival is your thing, Misunderstood acetates has some facemelters, Breakaways is the mid-60s R&B band of the friend who pretty much got me into collecting R&B 45s so I was stoked to finally get a copy of the original LP.
also have a batch of great 45s to post up but they will take a bit more time to sort through. :D
The Trends - Home Cookin' 45
