Does anyone know what kind of cash some of Dondi's work has gone for? I was reading that when he died he left hundreds of pieces of art behind

    dude was light years ahead..

  • He truly was light years ahead!

On wiki it says that "Dondi had no children but left behind hundreds of paintings and drawings, the ownership of which is still being disputed" so I guess none of that has been sold yet.

I would think that he's one of the most sought after NY writers who did canvases but I guess prices would never go Banksy high though.

o yeah, just those full cars dondi and duro were doing in 79-80 were sick. These guys had to paint in between the cars, so they most likely had to wait until the next day to see the finished product.

I still can't belive what Banksy paintings are going for, but then again I would have never thought that copy of Soultors - Stone Cold 45 was gonna sell for almost a grand the other day on ebay

  • A proper picture of the first of three "children of the grave" wholecars surfaced not too long ago:

anyone seen the additional footage on the Style Wars DVD that came out a few years back...with Dondi talking about letters battling each other etc... awesome shit...

I always admried his simple yet stylish works... his colours and sence of space and size and clean finish is something alot of dudes still havent mastered...

Id love to see some canvas works of his...

Also, his BUS pieces are classic....

Dondi's work has been in demand among collectors since the 80's - OG sketches etc. will not sell for less than a few thousand dollars. Especially now with the 70's generation coming of age and having money to drop.
sometimes prints etc will pop up for a lot less
If you have to go the gallery route it will cost you. I dont think anyone that has sketches or work will be letting it go for cheap either.
