Anyone caught Maceo lately?He's playing at the Blue Note in Tokyo and I'm going to try catch him, just wanted to hear some reviews in anticipation!peace.

    I've seen him twice but not in about five years. Both shows were great but the first time was one of the best shows I've ever seen. It was the JB Horns (Maceo, Pewee and Fred) at Blues Alley (tiny DC jazz club) back in the early 90's. Those three guys in suits tore it up!

    saw him two years ago in switzerland. wasn't really amazing. the trombone player (NOT fred!) was a youngster, who didn't really play well. also the drummer seemed like watching too much "muppet show" back in the days, like every 2nd bar a fill in. disgusting. and there was his son, a rapper... even me is better. the music was more like overloaded p-funk than JB-style. if you like this contemporary p-funk rap-fusion thing, check it out!

    (on the other hand: saw maceo live back in the 90ties with fred and pee wee. amazing!)
