Buying a Roland SP-808, advice please

Hi, Im looking to maybe buy a roland sp-808, and i need some help. What are some of the things i need to know before buying one? is there certain things to lookout for? What kind of price am i looking at? and if you have anything else to add, please do. JKriss

  • I'd rather have a TR808 but I'm sure the sp will do all you want. Just hit google for price info.

    thanx for the help, the reason im asking is because i have a chance to get an sp-808 for a pretty good price and i just want to make sure theres nothing im missing.

  • yep, you will be missing a drum machine, which means you will only be able to program loops by figuring out the matching tempo and deviding it by the number of times you need it to repeat in a bar. Machine straight sucks.

    You would be better off with a $50 midi drum machine and a $200 emax or s-950
