I thought it was great seeing a lot of older heads on the show, that you normally would never see on the BET Awards in this day and age (O'Jays, Keith Sweat, Guy, etc.).
Production wise...ooof! What a nightmare. I understand the whole 'the show must go on' reality of the situation/event, but damn...i've never in the history of watching television seen so many awkward, bizarre, and downright just unprofessional moments...and this ain't on some "I don't like her elbows" shit...just saying.
Ol' girl announcing to the world that Nichelle Nichols was in the restroom (when she was supposed to be on stage w/ her presenting the awards) was a super bad look. I have no idea who she is (the young girl), but damn..couldn't/wouldn't you have said ANYTHING besides that (even if it was the truth)?
Eddie Levert's "slip up" gave everyone a good laugh...that "shit" was hilarious..especially w/ the "my name is Eddie.....this is what I do" follow up..haha. He had everyone rolling with that one.
Drake/Weezy performance was embarrassing as hell..and awkward with the little girls (Weezy's?) coming out to stand beside them while he sang and rapped about wanting to F*ck every girl in the world. Classy!
I don't know, Batmon...I don't know many people (anyone at all, actually) that thought this was a great show (and i'm not just talking about 'disconnected' white dudes, either). Honestly, a lot of people I know that planned on watching it, ended up changing the channel due to how bad it was...which is a shame.
Johnny Gill, Ojay's,Foxx,and other folks various memories of MJ. Janet Jackson speaking the audience. Did need to give a long ass speech. Her presence was enuff. Don Cornelious bringing the pace down, so cats can reflect on MJ. The Baby Boy spoof was funny, w/ Ving Rhames going over the line. "Gunz is Micheal Jackson" Folks mouthin the words to the Souja Boy joint. Lebron James gettin Booed when he received the Athlete of the Year Award- Cats were screamin KOBE!!! New Edition looked good but the solos sounded horrible. But it was fitting for The New Edition to open. The New Jack Swing came outta nowhere. VHI Hip Hop Honors beat them to the punch. Tyrese-Johnny Gill-Trey Songs killed The Stairway To Heaven. Tyrese and Monica wont die. The subtle Rock With You Video reference during Beyonce's wack performance. Akeela & The Bee (Kiki Palmer) is gettin grown. Ne-Yo's Lady In My Life was the shit. Dude converted me into a 'fan'. Despite the bathroom comment(whoopdedamdoo), Zoe & Nichelle Nichols was a very nice touch. Hardly ever was bommbarded w/ the latter MJ images. Brown MJ was the featured imagery. I wont ever talk about the Wizard Of OZ dress. Foxx escorting Beyonce back to her seat right before Jay-Z got on.Dude were not excited by them anymore.
