I picked this up a few months ago, finally played it last week and i was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be some boring folk snore fest but i was genuinely into it from start to finish. Depressing yes, but still

Check out his first band the Blue Things. They recorded for RCA, everything from early beat era stuff to psychedelia. It's all been reissued too.

I like this record - it certainly stands out as an example of an
entire album just devoted to one relationship gone bad. Even the
cover art is explicit in it's depiction of him as damaged goods.
I just wish the arrangements had been kept simpler. The songwriting
is great, his voice is solid. Just rein in those strings a little!

As for Blue Things, there is an awesome CD that just came out in the past
couple of years that finally compiles what was previously only available
across a 3 volume LP set. Which I own

I finally scored a copy of my fave Blue Things 45 last year.

If anyone want to hear what their psyche era sounded like, check it out here...
