Hour by train plus 15 minute stride both ends. I used to work within a minutes walk from my house and, to be honest, I actually don't mind the journey most days as long as there are no major delays. Yes it means you get up earlier and get home later but the travel gives me ample time to listen to all the music I've ripped, catch up on the papers and read a good book. This wind up and wind down time means that I can normally manage to keep the stresses of work separate from my home life.
Hmm, this sunshine is making me extremely touchy feely with my emotions today.
My job is taking care of my sons, so right now job=home.

Hey Stein,
From my garage to the front door at work, it takes me 10 minutes. It's nice that I don't have to commute far here in New Jersey. We're one of the top-3 among states with the worst drivers GMAC 2009 Ranking of States with Worst Drivers in the U.S..

Not only a high proportion of bad drivers, but cars in general. Too many people, too many cars. It takes forever to get ANYWHERE in NJ....
its about 50 miles or so, i drive about an hour everyday and about 15-20 minutes of that is really bad traffic on the way home. Its the worst shit ever.
googlemaps is dope: 4.9 miles. I've never walked. car: 15 mins. bike (in biz casual): 35min to, 35min home. bike (bringing change of clothes and clipping in): 21min to, 30min home. it's a nice coaster downhill to flat on the way in. I should ride today.
about 10 miles, but that's misleading - while it takes me all of 15 minutes to get down the FDR, I then will spend up to 20-30 minutes looking for parking.
yeah. instead of fully squid-roadie cyclist attacking the skreets, I'll roll as "dude riding his bike" to work... It helps me take a different approach: I'll just kind of cruise, taking sidewalks and bike paths, and sitting up well in advance of yellow lights. Just cruizin. I do show up sweaty sometimes, but so does the fat dude who talks super loud...and he drives a PT Cruiser with AC.
I'll just go into the bathroom and dip my nuts in the sink to cool off for a bit, it's no thing...
Any longer of a commute, though, and I'd probably be change-of-clothes guy.
from the valley to downtown la....usually a 40 minute car ride to north hollywood station (traffic owns), then another 25 mins tacked on for the subway ride.

35 to 45 minutes on the bike
(depending if I'm in fast or slow peddle mode).
I try to ride my bike everyday.
F*ck Y'ALL

It takes me about 35-40 minutes. I wish it were closer by at least half.

Bike 10 mins
Bus 15 mins
Walk 30 mins
I actually preferred my previous commute that was a 15 minute bicycle ride.
20 Minutes by bicycle
30 Minutes by bus
20 minutes by car
In the winter, though, its another story....

I always thought it would be problematic to bike to work in that you would have that "outside" smell.
By train, it's more like 25 min door to door.
22 to 35 min (winter)
