Mayer Hawthorne - Maybe So Maybe No ?!?!

Has anyone czeched Mayer Hawthorne's version of 'maybe so maybe no'? It's barely a cover, more of a rerecording. In my book, the original is one of the most beautiful soul jams of all time. The rerecord? NAGL. My friend was the stylist for the record, and I guess the guy was a dick to work with to boot.What other covers/rerecordings of amazing songs have actually stacked up? DISCUSS.

    As opposed to the old retro-soul? That was pretty derivative too!

    if covering something in this way gets people interested in reviving the original material, then something great has been acheived. i think he just did these songs for a laugh anyway.

    There are many other ways to revive interest in original material that doesn't include recording an inferior cover. And mind you, I actually like Mayer's music; just not this song.
