Terrible look for ?uest and the interviewer who's up his ass. "We have to figure this out for hip-hop's sake." Right, because using a DJ is an affront to hip-hop.
The interviewer sounds like some kids I know that get drunk and tell me how hip hop just ain't the same anymore. And then when i get drunk I worry that I'll sound like them so i just be quiet and listen to the music. Questlove should do the same.
Yes. The real hip hop is being a houseband for Fallon. The Roots. I have never liked them at all and ?uestlove somehow thinks that he is still pushing the boundaries of the genre. His fullofshit persona was always the number one thing I disliked about them. And who is he to question anyone else's sound, and maybe they don't want to be 'associated' with the Roots.
Seriously - I wish he would shut-up about being disappointed.
It's cool if he's disappointed, but just leave it at that. "Damn, I would have loved to back Meth up." That's fine.
But don't get all asshurt on the internets talkin about this is some big issue with hip-hop.
Max Weinberg probably got disappointed if he didn't get to backup a some legend who appeared on Conan, but he also probably understood if dude wanted to use his own drummer. He wasn't on video saying "Yo, where's the love, Van Morrison??"
I respect Quest's musical talent and pedigree, but dude. Shut up already.
We need a questlove "Where's the love?" Graemlin real quick.
"My personal thing, I can't rock with a band," Mef explained in an interview. "I get drowned out. My voice ain't strong like that. [I haven't performed with the Roots] but I rock they sh*t. I definitely rock they sh*t. But I can't rock with a band, I would love to rock with a band but my voice gets drowned out." (Juan Epstein)
i listend to the whole juan epstein show earlier and found out pete rock produced that song they're talking about, the new single. I had no clue he did that. I thought it was a soundclick/myspace guy they got for cheap.
As for the questlove thing who cares. I think everyone commented in a playful manner.

i like his presumption that rap acts indisputably sound better with a band behind them...and more specifically, his band.
Seriously - I wish he would shut-up about being disappointed.

nobody else?
I'd've got the dude's name wrong on purpose, were I hating: "Questlove."
cosign on the house band for Jim E Fallon-ness too... and vs. the Powerstripe dudes...
clash of the purist titans, here!

Meth responds!
He can't really think that .
250 members on Okayplayer agree...and they didn't even hear it.
