Found a record today with two radio spots for the 1969 movie "The Split" (on 12"). REALLY cool spots of a movie that starred Jim Brown along with Diahann Carroll , Ernest Borgnine, Gene Hackman, Jack Klugman and Donald Sutherland among others and was apparently the first R Rated movie ever. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063636/I have never heard of this movie and I don't think its been released on video. Quincy Jones did the soundtrack. Has anyone heard this or seen this movie?

I Know nothing about the OST and the movie,

I've seen the movie -- used to own a bootleg VHS which was borrowed and never returned. Soundtrack is great, movie is fun -- you can take it half-seriously as a heist film, but it's accrued some camp value as well. Warren Oates kills it as per usual.

Overall similar to the Warren Beatty film "$" ("Dollars") from around the same time, also with Quincy on the OST.

It turns up on TCM once in a blue moon.

The book it's based on by Richard Stark (Donald Westlake) is a good read. It was issued as both "The Seventh" and "The Split".
