a phrase i never really thought i would hear/read.apologies if this has already been discussed.http://pitchfork.com/news/35189-minnesota-college-students-riot-after-talib-kweli-no-show/
Ah, college. The personal growth. The intellectual rigor. The senseless riots. Sigh. The University of Minnesota's annual Spring Jam concert ended with a fizzle on Saturday night, with headliner Talib Kweli a no-show due to flight troubles-- "Sorry minneapolis! Still stuck at ohare tried my best...catch you on the rebound," he Twittered. About 500 possibly (!) inebriated youths took to the streets and proceeded to get all Woodstock '99 with it, according to a Minnesota Daily report.Impromptu fires were lit. Cars were rocked back and forth. Assholes pushed each other around in shopping carts. Riot police were called in. It got apocalyptic and dumb and ugly. And while we're guessing keggers and general idiocy played the biggest roles in this fiasco, the University's police chief cited Kweli's last-minute pullout as a contributing factor as well, according to the Minnesota Daily. And you thought Talib Kweli couldn't get the kids excited anymore. Tsk, ts

Does Kweli need to make a statement decrying their behavior as not very "conscious" or "true school?" We're all trying to get by and be fathers to our children, right? C'mon U of M, be positive!
