how to uninstall programs on a mac?

I need to uninstall ableton live on my mac. Is it true that you can just drag the program icon into the trash bin and that's all? Just want to make sure I do it right.

    I just did that with my scan program and it worked fine. But make sure there isn't an un-installer on your installation CD or in the installer dmg.
    If there's an Un-installer be sure to use it. I once un-installed my Adobe Creative Suite by dropping it in the trash and had massive problems to install a new version because there were lots of tiny parts sitting in places where I never would have looked. Took me quite a while to find all Adobe Objects and drag them in the trash until I was able to install anew.

    with quite a few apps you'll find secondary files in your home folder, under users/your username/library and users/your username/library/application support.

    I just dragged it into the trash bin and so far no problems when I installed ableton live 5.2
