I'm headed to Biloxi, Mississippi tomorrow and don't know a damn thing about it. I do know there has to be records there but does anyone have any knowledge they can drop as to where? Spots I need to eat at? Things to do? Thanks.

    Thanks.

The only substantial store in Biloxi was Ace Records which got wiped out by Katrina and to my knowledge has not opened back up.

You will still see plenty of Katrina damage along the coast....I'd hit the Thrift Stores and Flea Markets.

  • there was a store in gulfport...
Goldmine's rare records. but it probably felt katrina's wrath as well, it was pretty close to the coast.

Goldmine in Gulfport closed last September.
The only thing truly left in Biloxi are Waffle Houses and the giant Beau Rivage casino.
There is also a self-proclaimed "upscale" Italian joint down there.
The waitress that served us started it off by saying, "Fellas, there's a shitload of food on the menu."

The Matthew Broderick Memorial Dog Park was pretty nice. That's about it, though.

Yeah, I figured with the storm and all it was going to be a pretty dismal digging attempt store-wise. Thanks for the knowledge anyway.

Thrifts and fleas, here I come. However, I think I may skip the Italian spot.

  • i loved goldmines. all of my family on my dads side live there in gulfport right near biloxi. ive spent many, many hours in there and got to be friends with the lady that owned it. a few times i even brought her some smoke in trade credit. anyways, the last time i tried calling her, her boyfriend(?) answered and starting saying all this shit about how i was trying to F*ck his girlfriend. i was like "chill, im just trying to buy records" he wasnt hearing it though and i eventually had to hang up on him.

i see her pop up on aim every now and then but she doesnt respond. i think she may be embarassed?

  • so what happened with all the records at that place?

The records were moved elsewhere in Mississippi, to storage.
I think my partner and I were literally the last people to look at stuff at the shop.
Kim and her girlfriends were boxing the business up the entire three days we were there.
Needless to say, the move jarred some pretty intense shit loose from the nooks and crannies.
I picked up around 500 records, my partner the same.
