Got records from uncle, throw away these doubles?

I guess I didn't realize what I was getting myself into. These things take up way too much room. I tried to sort most of them out and typed out all the doubles. I honestly want to throw them away because I do not have any more room, but figured I'd post a list here first to make sure I wasn't making a mistake. They all seem pretty common though.Ahmad Jamal vol IVAl Jarreau This timeAleese Simmons I Want ItAlyson Williams RawAndrea True Connection More, More, MoreAngela Bofill Angel of the nightAngela Bofill Something About YouApollonia 6 Apollonia 6Aretha Franklin Live at Fillmore WestAretha Franklin Ten years of goldAretha Franklin Who's zoomin' who?Aretha Franklin Aretha's greatest hitsAshford & Simpson A musical affairAverage White Band Feel no fretAverage White Band AWBBaby Ray Where souls liveBell & James Only make believeBen E. • Definitely mostly some junky records, but I wouldn't throw them away. At least goodwill those suckers and get a tax write off or whatever. There is some at least decent listening joints in there...

I can't believe anybody would type all that junk out.

Throw them away. Take them out of circulation.

That list is like every bin I've looked at in the last 6 months, with the exception of Chris' store.

You should set-sale them on Waxidermy for $8-$10 each.

The selection's just kind of bland; not really bad enough for waxidermy.

So you spent a couple of hours listing the records, just to make sure you should throw they away ?

  • You should listen to them and keep the ones you like.

Chuck the vinyl, sell the covers as mailer pads--10 for $2.50, 50 for $10, 100 for $15. I'll take all for $30.

Bruce Willis The return of Bruno

    Unchuckable

edith head might want to holler at this

  • I actually created a spreadsheet and am typing the records out to keep track, so they can be sorted. What you see posted is a copy and paste of the doubles from the spread sheet.

I've actually had to type out about 8000 records, but we have to keep track and this was the only way to get extra space.

Thanks for the info guys, I will probably take them to goodwill.

Damn - I feel like a couple of local stores would give me a few hundred
dollars in store credit for 2,000 titles like that. I mean, they're not
    that bad.

Is that intentionally supposed to be a list of the most un-sought after albums in existence?

I wonder if anybody bought something......

Exactly. Being elitist douchebags isn't doing anyone any favors. Most of those albums aren't atrocious, just common. And yes, stores do buy them - that's why NateBizzo keeps seeing them everywhere.

If he had posted up a list of Firestone Christmas records then yes, I would say donate them or jettison them into outer space or something.

  • I wish dollar-bins looked like that in my part of the world!

I was told before I posted here that this place was very serious about records, so I understood the comments. I knew the stuff was common and wanted to free up space. Before I did, I wanted to be sure I was making the right decision.

Oh, I'm a she, and I have no idea why there were two Bruce Willis records (even though I am still keeping one), lol.

    Believe not what you hear!

FOr real though, it's worth toting this shit down to a record store so long as the condition is good. Even if you only got pennies on the dollar, at 8000 LPs, that could be a few hundred or more, at worst!

  • tripledoubletripledouble 7,636 Posts

    eBay set sale!

He should make sure to include "World's Greatest Record Collection!" on there to get the extra hits!

    haha.

Yeah all of these I would trade in for store credit. This isn't a collection of Heintje or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Actually some of those records are good but the shipping alone wouldn't be worth it. I can get most of them for a $1 here if I don't already have them.
