How Loud Do You Keep It In The Clurb/Bar/Ect?

Recently I've settled on a method and standard for how loud I like to crank the system at a dance party. My main reference point is watching the crowd to see how people are talking to each other. Ideally, they should be able to communicate with someone up to 4 feet away without having to yell at them. Raised voice, yes. Yelling, no. I think this makes for the best party experience - you can talk with someone, but only if you get in close. The rest of my guidelines:Able to stand apart and have a casual conversation - turn that shit upYelling to talk to someone right in front of you - bit too loudHave to yell in someone's ear to communicate - waay too loudWhat's your protocol for loudness, and why do I have to go to so many parties where I can't talk to anyone because the system is tearing through everyone's cilia like a brush fire?
