Apparently they had a 7" of Politicians In My Eyes back the day. But the full length never came out due to their refusal to change the name.

It's barely been out for a month, so no latte-pas required.

I'm into it, but seemingly not as much as others. I want to give a few
more listens before I pass final judgement, however.

That's the one. Yeah, I remember both sides of that 7" kicking some ass. Might have to cop.

Killer album; one of the cooler "discoveries" of the last few years. Genre-defining/defying with a heavy Vermont connection.

Type "rouch Francis" into youtube if you want to see Bobby Jr. performing some of his dads stuff off of the album.

It's been getting tons of really positive press.

I was at a wedding this past summer with Bobby JR. and he played me this album; it floored me to say the least. Check out stuff by the 4TH movement too; that was the evolution of their band after DEATH.

I have the same reaction. It's good, but not a experience, IMHO.

  • damn... don't mean to bump this old thread... but I just saw that documentary on Friday night "before punk there was a band called death" damn man the whole story is mind blowing to me and the fact they never changed the named and are reliving the whole experience all these years later sans/brother.. is crazy.

amazing how they were "rediscovered" when the 45 resurfaced..

    I am down!

This very thread ? Its from eight years ago.

Great doco and great album. I think it highlights how pigeon holed a lot of black artists where if they didn't fit into the funk/soul sound of the times. The labels didn't know what to do with them so they where sidelined. Its funny now to think tht Death was a controversial name back then.

Nah, this thread is from after the reissue came out if I'm reading it correctly. Before that when this group had just been recently discovered and were being touted as the black punk group before punk, someone came and poasted some sound files or something.

I was the first person to post about this.  Bobby Jr, the son of the lead guitarist is friend of mine in Vermont, where I used to live up until 2008, and he shared with me the original soundclips of the reels and 45's he found in his dad's storage attic. He was completely shocked. Took it to the strut.

I still really don't believe it. Reversoturf gaslighting mind control.
