Wondering if anyone can help me out with some knowledge here. I've got an old iBook running 10.2.8 os, I've got 2 questions can I/should I buy the latest os? If I don't get an updated os I'm in need of finding an external hd that is compatible with pc(where I'll be copying a music library from) and mac os 10.2.8. I've noticed alot of hd's run only os 10.4 and up. I got a good deal on the iBook-it also came with final scratch ver 1. I know I shoulda saved my loot and bought a new laptop and Microwave but this was a few years back-learning experience for sure.Hope this makes sense, as u can tell I'm not the most cpu savy dude.Thx much for any info.

  • Any old Firewire external will work with 10.2.8, just don't get one with USB 2.0 if you have an iBook G3. The 10.4 requirements are probably just for bundled back-up software, but if you need to buy an OS upgrade check ebay or http://fastmac.com/osx.php, or see if your local Apple Specialist can install it for you, I wouldn't recommend going any further than 10.3. Check out Rocstor or Western Digital for externals. Hope this helps and good luck!
