Here's an LP I picked up recently when I was in DC,

It's out of Fayetteville, North Carolina

    Ondray Pearson / Re'Vilo Productions
IN association with J.O.D / The Nu Breed Present

I'm guessing 89 or 90 for the year...

anyone came across this one before?

  • Still somewhat obscure, but not for long:

  • Options
The Earthquake Demo tape (3 tracks produced by MF Doom and featuring Doom rhyming on the cut "Checkmate")

    Bigfoot "Black Lagoons" ep

  • "Rhymes So Def" by Numarx (Studio Records, 1987)

This was former Def Jam president Kevin Liles' old group before he went on to compose "Girl You Know It's True" - later covered by Milli Vanilli.
True talent always rises to the top of the music industry.

No, "Girl You Know It's True" was actually a Numarx song. It was already a big hit in England before Milli Vanilli re-did it. Numarx had a few other equally good 12"s, though, including "Buss It". They were hugely influential in shaping Baltimore's approach to hip-hop and house. DJ Spen ended up being a pretty big-time remixer on the national level with the Basement Boys.

  • yeah, that's true. I was in LA at the time that record came out and it was EVERYWHERE, so it's kinda almost a commercial record for me in that sense. Pistolgrip Pump was on the LA equivalent of Hot 97 all the time.

    others:

    Mike Zoot - "High Drama"
    Pop da Brown Hornet
Big Red - "Created A Monster"

I kind of dig it despite it's imperfections, he used the that same loop big Jaz and JAy Z spit over later. Wonder if dude ever kicked it with Bone Thugs before they got signed.

That was kinda the joint back then. I woudn't be at having that cut or his follow up where he samples "Too Hot" right around the same time that dude MilkBone used it as well..

    speaking of which

    MilkBone "Keep it Real"
    Royal Flush "Rotten Apple"
Jeru Da Damaja "Me or the Papes Rae & Christian Remix"
