Laserwolf: I hear what you are saying ... let me clarify. Government CAN spend on things that are worthwhile, and perhaps sometimes necessary. The problem starts when they start spending beyond their means. If the government needs to keep borrowing, or keep printing money, they are spending beyond their means.
Like police, EMS, and fire departments. These things are obviously necessary. But just for example, overspending on police, making them more and more militarized like we saw at both the Democratic National Conventions and Republican National Conventions ... creating a police state. That, is no good for anybody.
Dude, I don't know the difference between "real" wealth, and fake wealth.
Fake wealth = borrowing $1 million dollars from credit cards to spend, spend, spend, like buying a new car (tax incentives if you buy a new car, according to the "Stimulus Package." The bills will be due at some point or another. You still have no wealth.
Real wealth = saving money, or investing in real assets like gold or silver, which is what our money SHOULD be backed by, instead of "faith."
Please to clue me to these people who are making real wealth without government help.
I am at work, and getting ready to bounce. But, one example I can think of, right off the top of my head ... farmers who do not rely on government subsidies, and sell at community farmers markets and co-ops.
How about REAL tax cuts, like getting rid of the income tax, so that Americans can actually save money, pay off debt, or spend it back into their communities?
How about continuing to tell our crumbling infrastructure, and our broken education and health care systems to suck it? How bout tax cuts got us into this mess?
If you look at our current situation, and your answer is that the government is doing TOO MUCH domestically, your insane, and very very
Edit: And I call bullshit on your farmer example too. Those farmers depend on decent roads, hospitals and schools the same as anyone else.
Why don't u just get it over with and profess your Ron Paul love already....

When did I ever say that "the government is doing TOO MUCH domestically"? Just because I said that police is now more militarized than ever before, to use as an example? We could be doing MUCH MORE domestically, instead of blowing up bridges in Iraq, only to pay a private contractor to rebuild it, while our bridges here at home are falling apart. We COULD be spending more domestically to fix our "crumbling infrastructure. With our own money, instead of borrowed money. But, we would have to cut spending elsewhere, like overseas nation building.
Tax cuts got us into this problem? I don't even know where to start with that ... so I will It is quittin' time.
Why don't u just get it over with and profess your Ron Paul love already....
I ain't scurred ... RON MOTHERFUCKING PAUL 2012! Please believe it.
Edit: That is some really immature shit. You make it sound like it's a bad thing. Am I a nut now, or a conspiracy theorist? What does me agreeting with Ron Paul have to do with anything? Should I be saying, "Why don't you just profess your love for the status quo?" Or "if you love Obama and his government stimulus plan so much, why don't you marry it?"
Maybe I was a little vague. What I mean is that tax cuts alone, in the absence of any other ideas, won't solve the problems we're facing right now, and using tax cuts alone as the guiding principle over the last 8 years is a big part of how we got here.
Ron Paul fans always go back to this overseas nation building, as if that's a radically different position from most Obama supporters. I won't argue that that's a poor use of taxpayer money, but again, the idea that tax cuts will do anything at all to address education, health care or infrastructure is clearly bullshit, and I think the last 8 years disproves the idea that tax cuts lead to a healthy economy....

This is not elaborating. You're just saying the same thing with more words. Try again.

I think Unherd clearly articulated the reasons.
I respectfully disagree.
He made a very specific and strong statement. "...Tax cuts got us into this mess."
I asked him to elaborate on that.
His Reply: "Blah blah blah... blah... ...blah...I think the last 8 years disproves the idea that tax cuts lead to a healthy economy...."
No matter how many times I re-read that I can't seem to find an answer in it, just a restating of the original claim.
Dude, what are you talking about? The premise is simple. For the last 8 years, Bush and the GOP pursued a campaign of slashing taxes, which only helped the wealthiest and corporations. Classic voodoo, trickle-down economics. All the while, Bush increased government spending -- not to address poor/middle class concerns -- but on his massive war machine to fund two wars. The budget surplus under Clinton was transformed to a huge deficit.
I think I get an additional tax break if I add employees. Since my guys get paid under the table, that might work out. However, the government would take employer/ee taxes out. Seems like 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

I'd like some of that stimulus gwap though.
Honestly....I don't care if I personally benefit from the stimulus package if it truly rights the economy by creating jobs, lowers unemployment and allows hard working Americans to get back on track.
In the end, the stimulus package is you, the people of the USA. Work hard and spend your money wisely. Every single everyday purchase is another vote, where and how you invest your money is another vote. Get this shit right and you won't have to worry about f*cking the republicans cause they're gonna be busy f*cking themselves out of the anger that comes with realizing that they are f*cked beyond repair.
Are they holding it up purely to make Obama look bad, that he can't work across the aisle?
EVEN MORE BREAKING NEWS: WATER IS WET!
Its sad you're so at ease with this. They can't call themselves American.
Que say wha' dices? I meant:
Of course they are trying to mess with dude just so they can say "I told you so" in the next 3-4 months.
And in most of the recent Obama threads, they (right-wing media and repub's) are SHOCKINGLY giving him a very tough time, hmmm....I wonder why. I guess the just love "Amurica" more than some "socialist muslin who wasn't born here and likes to read people their rights".
So although I'm not the biggest fan of his, Krugman's post yesterday was really pretty scary.
Also, shockingly, Ron Paul has come our against the bailout. I just watched the youtube, and besides saying that jobs created by the stimulus package will come at the expense of jobs in the private sector of the "productive economy", CNN claims he
said that he agrees that the economy needs to be stimulated but that he doesn't think the federal government should be doing it.
"Sure, we want more spending," Paul said. "We need a lot more spending in the economy, but it has to be done by market forces, by individuals, by businesses making proper decisions."
Can one of his supporters please elaborate on wtf this means? Is he actually proposing the government do nothing except step aside, cheer on capitalism, and just continue to cut taxes and services to people?

Anyone that still buys into this hoodoo that the "free market" and private business are going to step up and save the economy - right after they fucked it up beyond all recognition - needs to have their heads examined (a la Ron Paul).

How can you spend money that doesn't exist?

right, cause gold and silver have "real" values.
Why should our money be backed by gold or silver?
I've got no use for gold and silver.
If we need to back our money with a commodity lets make it a useful one.
Like records.

A lot of folks on here just regurgitate Obama rhetoric and liberal media catch phrases. Does that nullify their opinion?
[lou dobbs] yea, illegal immigrants should starve to death and so should their innocent children!! [/lou dobbs]
For the life of me, I couldn't answer that. Maybe a tax cut here or there.
And that's pretty depressing.
Undocumented aliens don't buy used funky black man soul LP's??
I'd like some of that stimulus gwap though.
Honestly....I don't care if I personally benefit from the stimulus package if it truly rights the economy by creating jobs, lowers unemployment and allows hard working Americans to get back on track.
Some of those new jobs will be in record stores that see customers return. (Theoretically)
Some will be to illegal immigrants who mow the record store owners lawn. (Theoretically)
And some of those jobs will go straight up furners who make the crap that the lawn mower and record store owner buy.
Stimulus.
The "Buy American" provision in the stimulus plan was watered down to avoid an international trade war.
plaese to elaborate on "american citizens". do you mean jobs on U.S. soil or jobs for "legal" U.S. citizens?
