  • those reissues from japan went for $75 BIN last week.

    Now they're 89 bucks I think!

  • i had uncle funkenstein is dead on an old comp ( i think a groove merchant comp) and for years i always looked real careful at every brides of funkenstein, mutiny lookin LP just in case i missed something. bahumbug.

    whats marvin whoremonger sound like?
i vaguely remember the flea market story. dude wanted a lot, rihgt?

  • I still don't get why this is such a grail.

    It's an excellent record.
It is rare both in original and Gerald's lovingly crafted re-issue forms.

It is therefore prime grail material.

    THOU MOTE DEAL.

Funkenstein boner poppers just need to start listening to adult contemporary and GET IT OVER WITH.

Oh my bad, I thought you were being sarcastic when talking about Funkenstein's prime and excellent-ness.

I wouldn't spend $50 on a reissue of this. It sounds like bad proto-smooth jazz schlock. Rare? Sure, but sometimes records are rare because nobody bought them. On the upside, it will sit nicely next to your reed seed and sun goddess.

    SMOOOVVVV!

  • Are you dissing Reed Seed and Sun Goddess?

  • Whoremonger has everything Uncle Funkenstein lacks: Personality, vision, uniqueness, drugs, hookers, you name it. There are few records out there that sound like the Whoremonger, whereas Uncle Funkenstein resembles any number of mid-70s smooth jazz LPs. Rarity has everything to do with why Funkenstein is sweated.

    Only by association.

    E WILEY

  • Edit: to my knowledge Marvin Whoremonger has only been for sale publically once about 4 years ago.

I know someone who got an eBay copy for $200 4 months ago.

What is the price tag on Marvin Whoremonger?

  • i will trade my copy for group inerane or group doueh.

  • Now Look what ya'll started . Should be interesting.

  • The Uncle Funkenstein effect?

Or the Funkmongering Whorenstein effect: at the end of the day it ain't about the music.

  • To tell the truth, my favorite tunes on the Minority Band are the non-disco ones... "Ancestors", the title track, etc...
