recording/editing solution for teh cuts?

I need a good low cost solution for recording and doing advanced wav editing. Basically I will be importing a track and recording/editing scratches over the beat. Any suggestions? Audacity???s wav editing is not doing the trick cuz it sucks and I???m having problems w/ my regular software. I???m looking for something with editing capabilities similar to Pro Tools or Sonar. Thanks ~
