It's just some cabaret ish, at least he gives them some heavy props before awfullising their song. And if he did mean it to be sincere and the audience are laughing
I think if he had wanted to carry off a serious performance he would've put some effort into personalizing the lyrics, eg it sounds false and comedic when he says "shawty", clearly an appellation he never uses IRL. And his half-hearted proclamation that it's not meant to be ironic doesn't really matter because the audience seems to think its plenty kooky to have a white cellist plucking away at an urban R&B song. Hate to say it but even clown shit like Ben Folds doing "Bitches Ain't Shit" comes off better
