16 RPM (RR)

so from what i understand these were made for blind folks so they wouldn't have to flip the record as frequently and the records usually had spoken word, speaches, stories etc but eventually died out due to the compromised audio quality. i know caliphones can play 16's... so i guess the question is; are any of these records considered valueable or RAER? anyone have 16s? plaese to school me...

  • I have a box set of the old testament on 16...I just figured it was akin to recording a VHS on SLP so you could get more info on the same sized piece of vinyl

    I sold a record player for the blind or something that played 8 rpms too.

    I don't think the format itself is collectible. They are almost always lectures on selling life insurance, or sermons, or whatever, but I'm sure if it was anything especially neat or historic people would want it. I believe there are some ancient Prestige records that play at 16 RPM too.

    this is also the only thing i've ever seen at 16rpm.
