Article in today's NY Times about Salted Caramels, and it mentions our new president's favorite:"And if those markers of mainstream appeal weren???t enough, President-elect Barack Obama has taken to salted caramels, too. He likes to treat himself to a Seattle candy maker???s version, robed in dark chocolate and sprinkled with smoked sea salt."These are from Fran's Chocolates in Seattle, and they are f*cking INCREDIBLE.I've given two boxes to the wife over the last year as gifts- one mail order, one picked up in person and flown across country- and must say that Mr. President has IMPECCABLE taste. These things f*cking kill.So, if you're into salted caramels (which you should be) try Fran's in Seattle. I love salt caramel's. They sell them at our local wine store and I always buy a handful when I swing through.
