Another friend of mine went down to Sao Paulo last month (there are quite a few Paulistas in DC apparently) and offered to bring back records for me. I sent her with cash, traders and a store address. Here's what she dropped off for me on Sunday. Picked up some really cheap Cuban records on Areito to expand the collection. That Pquito D'Rivera is excellent(specially at $1 CDN) and had the Mike Clark & Menahan STreet Band LP's waiting for me in the mail. That Tito Puente is pretty damn sick, hella funky. b, 21Martin & Neal shreds, and that copy is nearly perfect. The "Hits-Au-Go-Go"b, 21was hiding in the EZ Listening section, but is mostly really cool instrob, 21versions of Motown/R&B cuts circa '65, and has one killer original instrob, 21and an even better original vocal track that slays. Finally found a dupe of b, 21the R.I.C.C. record, awesome local private gospel with hand-pasted cover.b, 21Thought Sea Bright was going to be private press Yacht Rock, but it turnedb, 21out to be a half-decent folk album, mainly influenced by Richard & Lindab, 21Thompson. A couple of tracks with soprano sax and moog bring the yachtb, 21into the mix, tho. Props to Mark for the Poppies. Juan Amalbert is an OGb, 21and was crazy cheap. Visually VG- wax but played really well, I'm stoked.

Hector de Leon though, is kind of a behind the scenes heavy hitter. He was part of the Fania All-Stars as a trumpet player, and arranged and composed a lot of music. I know for sure he played with Louie Ramirez and I believe before that he played with Tito Puente. Rey if you got it from Joe Gaines, I'd say you got a great price.b, 21A thing about the cover, it looks like it could've been released on the Hope label with the font and the white background. Funny how they circled it and put the black around it, to make it a bit distinct.

Another copy of this just came up, with audio, and it's a real snoozer--I almost thought it was the wrong audio until I checked the tracklist on popsike.
