  • weird, the "Real Folk Blues" series came out in 1965, after Chess switched to the blue label...as far as I know. Is it US? I know that UK/Europe hung on to the old school Black chess label for a few years...but minty black label(with "Chess" in grey/silver runnin down the side) Chess LPs, depending on the artist obviously, usually top out at $150 or so...

font class="post"1b, 21b, 21I just posted about this at another sight....most likely it's the 70's black label with the red logo at top center....the OG label can be seen below and I don't think the SBW LP came out early enough to have that label.b, 21b, 21If it's the 70's press I'd guess it's a $20-$25 LP?b, 21b, 21img src="http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c218/Rockadelic1234/chess.jpg"1

b, 21 The next label was black with silver printing, "CHESS" in gold above the center hole, behind the logo is a crest with a knight chess piece on it. This label was used for a very short time, approximately 1483 to 1500. Promotional issues used a white label with the remainder of the graphics printed in black. During that same time, there were several "transitional" labels used. One looked like the black "crest" label, but was silver print on monochromatic blue background. Another looked like the eventual 1966-style label, but just blue and white, without the red-white-blue lettering that eventually became standard

font class="post"1 b, 21b, 21Considering that SBW is catalog #1503, and they say this "transitional" black b, 21label was used until "approximately #1500" it is not unthinkable that an OG ofb, 21the SBW could have this black label. It's certainly from a period of transitionb, 21where maybe one pressing plant didn't have the new labels yet, etc ...
