AIDS has killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007,[1] and an estimated 33 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007,[2] making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 2 million lives in 2007,[3] of which about 270,000 were children.[4] The concept of a World AIDS Day originated at the 1988 World Summit of Ministers of Health on Programmes for AIDS Prevention. Since then, it has been taken up by governments, international organizations and charities around the world.b, 21b, 21b, 21Anything happening in your community?b, 21b, 21We got 1000+ AIDS awareness t-shirts made up to give to all of our staff. Hopefully the sight of 1000 people walking around in AIDS awareness t-shirts today will make a lasting impact on the community.

Thanks for getting out there and trying to raise awareness, DrBorisQ.b, 21b, 21I was out all day yesterday doing community outreach and was dismayed, although not surprised, by how unaware most people were that it was even World AIDS Day. We were handing out these cute tins with condoms inside and one woman picked one up thinking it was a yo-yo. When she realized what it was she dropped it like a hot potato and literally ran away. A grown woman. And a Black woman, who should know that a href="http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/conditions/07/29/black.aids.report/index.html" target="_blank"1AIDS is the leading cause of death for Black women aged 25???34 years in the United States./a1
