Indie bandnames - All time low?

Yes I say. And not always because they are a bunch of kids with no f*cking imagination. Sometimes I think they have some good band names saved up but are waiting for a future band that will last longer than 3 shows, 27 blog posts and a write up in Deli Mag.b, 21b, 21Deer f*cking what now?

    Next week, my band is going to play with a band called Steve Irwin & the Stingrays. That put a smile on my face.

    b, 21b, 21Even though there's probably been a band named the Stingrays, it sure is better than calling your band something like The Academy Is or Fall Out Boy. What are they, garage? Surf? Sharon Jones-ish retro soul?

    b, 21b, 21That's another darkly funny favorite of mine.b, 21b, 21Our band's singer/songwriter chose the name Fatal Film about five years ago. I've always felt it was a decent name but I do keep noticing other bands with either "Fatal" or "Film" in their name. Hell, some kids in our town decided to call their band The Fatalists.

    Any band name that includes vulgar words, is a play on of classic rock bands' names or has words like "confessional", "manifesto", etc. pisses me off

    Around 1993 My friend's band got a cease and desist from Keanu Reeves' band's lawyers for having the same name - Godstar or something.

    b, 21b, 21Actually, 2005 was the year of "wolf". Thats when Wolf Parade dropped their debut, "Apologies to the Queen Mary". You had Wolf Eyes dropping releases like crazy. Wolf Mother put out their only album -- tons of other Wolfs that year. I also think that there were tons of "black" bands that year or the year before: Black Lips, Black Eyes, Black Keys, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Brightblack, etc.b, 21b, 21As for the band names that you're not feeling -- care to name any?

    I've been up in the air as to whether I think This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb is a cool band name. At the moment, I'm leaning toward yes, but it changes all the time.
