Is this like a speech impediment for indie rappers?b, 21Particularly NYC DOODES, how many times do you have to say this in a Freestyle session?b, 21I was just at a show (first in a while) and at the end they did a freestyle thingb, 21and Ill Bill said "off the top of the dome" like 18 times in a 16 bar verse.b, 21b, 21img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ehh.gif" alt="" 21b, 21b, 21It reminded me of how often i've heard this from NYC underground MC'S in the past.b, 21b, 21anybody still say this or not snicker when you hear it?b, 21b, 21Honestly...

    Every MC has a crutch word/phrase/whatever when they freestyle. At least 99% of the ones I've ever heard.b, 21b, 21That said...(without yellin over a drum roll) that style is old.

    anybody remember the dude supernatural ? I remember his freestyles were pretty good. as well oc and mad skillz on bobbito's show around 94 or so. i still have some of those tapes someone in new york sent me. man i feel old. can't believe people STILL say that phrase, you'd think someone would have thought of something new to say.

    i think one reason some MCs go out there way to say 'off the dome' is cause alot of US rappers throw the freestyle word around on ever second mixtape or radio show but aint improvising... You know that whoe, arguement about a freestyle being A. a written rime that hasnt been recorded B. a written non conceptual rime or C. Made up on the spot, off the head, improvised verse...b, 21b, 21Worse than suckers repeating the same line over and over is being in a cypher with some weak MC who keeps drowing in his freestyle and wont pass it...just keeps rambling on and on trying to find a decent rime.... Ive stood next to fuckers that have poorly freestyled over 3 insturmentals before someones stepped in and sorted them out.....b, 21b, 21On a positive note...I attended a very dope 'off the head' cypher on Saturday...b, 21b, 21"live and direct...."
