Am I crazy or is he one of those people that has become way better with age? I like him much more now as a bloated crotchety curmudgeon compared to when he was younger and considered a handsome movie actor. It's also become more apparent that he is a major dick, but that's part of what makes him likable to me because he talks so much shit but is always funny while doing it. b, 21b, 21Anyway, I bring this up because he was on Letterman last night and he called Sarah Palin "Bible Spice". Then proceeded to do a spot-on mocking impression of her telling him that she's been having conversations with his right wing brother Stephen and how they are going to team up and try to knock some sense into him. It was f*cking hilarious.

    He was always the best of the Baldwins in my opinion, but he seems to take himself less seriously now that he's older, which makes his delivery and attitude hilarious and compelling instead of self-important. He kills in 30 Rock.

    I've been developing affection for him since his turn in Glengarry Glenn Ross - there's such an air of asshole about him that I was never really sold on him as heroic lead. he's definitely improving year on year and is by far my favourite Baldwin.

    font class="post"1b,121b,121I agree, I was never sold on him as a heroic lead which must be why he's been a ton of movies that I can't remember now. Yeah, he was good in Glengarry Glenn Ross (and that's like the only one that stands out in my memory besides Beetle Juice) but I really appreciate him as a character actor now. His role as the chief with a short fuse in The Departed was one of the better things about that movie.

    I always preferred his turn as Jack Ryan in Hunt for the Red October over Harrison Ford.

Although he does well I think he's miscast in Beetlejuice which is ironic as it is the only one that stands out from dross like The Shadow and The Getaway remake (though I remember Malice being enjoyably overblown mainly down to the combination of him and Pullman - another actor I much prefer sleazy than heroic).b,121b,121The combination of his cameo in the painful Fun With Dick and Jane along with Departed was the real kick off point where I started noticing how much more enjoyable to watch he is these days. It's worth mentioning that although I didn't make it to the end of Running With Scissors his world weary performance as the put upon husband totally shone out of the shit it was placed within.

    I can't believe this is even a question - Alec Baldwin has been and will continue to be the man. And yes, he was great in "Hunt For Red October." He really was Jack Ryan.

    While Balwin has had great roles throughout his career I think he really needed to outgrow his A-list "hot guy" persona to reach that next level.b,121I think all the crap he has gone through has advantageously humbled him so that he can now do some of his funniest and most engaging work.b,121His whole soft/hard caring/cold executive schtick on 30 Rock is pure genius.
