I know next to nothing about this guy. A friend of mine has been recording a lot with dude over the last year. His band has backed Count at a few shows and it seems like they are having a great time. b,121b,121Anybody feeling dude?b,121b,121What, if anything, are his essentials?b,121What would a rap fan enjoy?b,121What would a free jazz fan enjoy?b,121What should I know about homeboy before I give an opinion on this new stuff?b,121b,121Plaese to educate me.

all about junkies, such a banger!

  • there's definatly some charm to all his releases - wonky sounds/ chopping and silly drums are always fun.b,121b,121 but the "dwight spitz" lp is the only one i keep going back to...

I'm a fan.b,121Dwight Spitz is a very nice album (tails off near the end...but). I fell for it hard. "Charm" is right.b,121b,121He's also got a hilarious song that is RR - "sifting through records"

  • If you can find recordings of he and Egon's old college radio show the 911 Emergency Show (circa 1996 - 2000), you're in luck! (and plaese to share!)

  • Dwight Spitz is his best, the later stuff is good, but can get messy at times.

font class="post"1b,121b, 21i have tapes somewhere. somewhere in the attic. off subject, you can still find the 'origins of hip hop' archives in the old issues of the Friends of Sound here, one of the shows Egon and I did:b,121b, 21a href="http://friendsofsound.com/index2.html" target="_blank"1http://friendsofsound.com/index2.html/a1b,121b, 21we all went to college together. i am a fan. his style is quirky at times and unique. something most rappers can never pull off. dwight pulls it off a good portion of the time. you can really hear his early musical influences.b,121b,121check for 'art for sale', offbeat jazzier release.

font class="post"1b,121b, 21Really, really like that album. Definitely one of his best IMO. b,121I wasn't really digging the free inst. album he just released, but I have hopes his next record will be better. Dude has a blog btw:b,121b, 21a href="http://countbassd.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"1http://countbassd.blogspot.com//a1

I always enjoyed the debut Pre-Life Crisis.

  • is there a best of mix/podcast available?b,121b,121honestly, aside from 7 years I never was really blown away by him but since folks really dig him I'm curious to see if I'm missing out.
