b,121$100 seems to be my limit..those are the only records I have spent over $100 on that I can think of at the moment. I have shit tons of records worth more than $100, but I try and not to spend more than $100 per record...no regrets as to not throwing the loot around...I find that you will usually find it sooner or later for cheap, or find someone willing to trade it to you...I would rather sell records for loot than buy 'em for loot....

A woman brought in a small stack of the same 45. I wasn't sure what it was, but I knew it was hot. I gave her $25 and got her address. I sent her $900 after I sold each one.

Two I don't regret at all are:b,121b,121Placebo - Ball of eyes LP $300 (I think I outbid Rey on this one)b,121Stark reality $350 (like someone else in this thread said, i think that's a pretty good price)b,121b,121The other one I didn't have any qualms about dropping loot on was Dinha Mantha's Power, by far my favourite library record.

  • hahahaha...good question dj kan! anyway, you know more than most what I have spent on certain records, but I would say the ones I can remember off the top are Placebo-Ball of Eyes ($250), 100% Poison-$150, Harlem Pop Trotters-$200 to name a few. Mind you I paid these prices over 10 years ago...but I have no regrets at allb,121b,121amir

Ditto on Placebo Ball of Eyes...played with trembling hands. Also their 2nd and 3rd and his solo. RIP Marc Moulin.

I should have asked how much she wanted for them. Then she would have been setting the price. b,121b,121But I set the price, so I felt responsible for it being a fair price. I sent her $900 after each one sold. b,121b,121Today I bought some oldies lps. Vg condition, Crest, Wanda Jackson, Shirells, Kathy Young, Gene Vincent. The only one I care about is Barbara George, what a great lp!b,121b,121Because these are not records I like and I don't like them clogging up my stock and I imagine they will take forever to sell, I bought them cheap. b,121b,121But those 45s were special.

b,121b,121I'm wondering what are the 12"s that you and everyone else here may have splurged on as a DJ? Si1[/i]erato may have changed everything, but what about before? Those records where sometimes a single song is so hot it just makes the loot moot.b,121b,121Personally, I don't think I've dropped more than around $35 for a record to play out but there are definitely plenty that I would pay $100+ for...not that that's anywhere near what they might cost, however.

b,121b,121As far as I can tell MP3 deejaying has only affected prices on rap 12s, which have taken a nosedive.

  • Ok, say am i the only guy on soul strut who has dropped 4 figures on a record?b,121b,121Yall making me feel bad now.

  • KineticKinetic 3,739 Posts
Hahaha. I really can't see myself spending 4 figures on a record. When we're talking about thimgs like the Soul Expedition Lp, if it's $1000 vs $20 for a reissue, I'm all about saving myself $980.
