Toss the vinyl in the trash, use the cover for a packing insert. File with shipping supplies.

Elton got joints. I kind of understand why there's not much love for him on here, because his shit must be in every dollar-bin and thrift shop in the US - at one point in the 1970s, Elton John was responsible for 2% of all records sold [i]in the entire world/i1 - but the man has written some genuinely deathless pop music.

Shouldn't the real question in this case be: where do you stack your John in the Elton File? img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pasue23is.gif" alt="" /1

Hahaha! No, but come on, now - none of you can make any time at all for anything by him?

Only have one record but ran into a problem again last night with JAMES PANTS. Does Pants qualify as a last name (file under P), or is it a name of a band (file under J)?

font class="post"1b,121b,121That's not much of a reason. Stevie Wonder's 1970's albums are in those same dollarbins and the Strut loves him. b,121b,121(It's worth noting that there was a period there in '74-'76 when Wonder was considered serious competition to John as far as record sales and general superstardom went...)b,121b,121/font1

font class="post"1b,121b,121There's a couple of songs I'd consider guilty pleasures, but apart from those tracks I'd just as soon leave Elton alone.

font class="post"1b,121b,121b,121Sayin. I'm not gonna front on him. He's got some classics, for sure. However, if I liked said classics enough to actually own them, which I do not, I would not own them on vinyl. Thus, I will never have occasion to file Elton John on my record shelf.

I'll tell ya, but I'd like to hear these guesses.b,121b,121And no, "I Am Woman" isn't one of them.

So I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that I'm Still Standing isn't one of them.b,121b,121Um, Bennie & The Jets and Tiny Dancer?

  • pickwick33pickwick33 8,946 Posts
Actually, it's "Philadelphia Freedom" (remember when Elton was big with black folks for a minute?) and "The Bitch Is Back."b,121b,121But apart from that, the man is HORRIBLE. We're talking Helen Reddy bad. Ain't no classics to be found there.
