font class="post"1b,121b,121Glad you dig. It's Byard Lancaster - "Just Test" on 45. It was originally included with the LP you see in the video, but was just reissued by the Kindred Spirits label. It's really unlike almost any other byard out there, except for funky rib grib and sounds of liberation.

  • Just ordered one from Kindred Spirits. Great track and the drums are slamming.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Not sure. They did put out jef gilson & hal singer - "soul of africa" which is one of the best jazz albums I've ever heard.

Nice jazz Aschrock! Never heard those Horo Sun Ra's... That Joe Chambers LP is way slept on...has a great version of Hancock's Blow Up. Come to think of it Chamber's is overlooked a little too often, great composer: edgy.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Glad you were into it. Yeah, Joe is great. Do you have his Almoravid album on Muse? Around the same period as his Finite LP and with even more creative playing. It has a great side-long track called "Gazelle" which was also on the M'Boom LP on Baystate.

  • LoopDreamsLoopDreams 1,195 Posts
Yup, that was the first Joe Chambers LP I ever owned. Gazelle's only 3 + minutes though, maybe he stretches it out on the Baystate version. Great album. Dude wrote ALOT of songs for other people too- Bobby Hutcherson's Components, etc..b,121 Nice to see the man's still going strongb,121b,121b,121 img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3188/2919591113_36afc7f477_o.jpg"1

Sun Ra and Joe Chambers are dope. Third clip wasn't really my thing. How much does one have to shell out for the "Sway"? That one is killer...
