In my morning round of tech news (can't be political 100% of the time) the1PROP-IP Act passage in the Senate1lit up the tech news sites.b,121b,121Background:b,121a href="http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080926-ip-bill-passes-senate-no-civil-enforcement-power-for-doj.html" target="_blank"1http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/200...er-for-doj.htmlb,121b,121If you haven't been following this one, this bill will ramp up IP protection and enforcement (fortunately the Senate1bill killed the provision "to have the DoJ act as copyright cops"). Now its back off to the House and probable passage. Bush will likely sign it into law. The RIAA sees this as a victory for them.b,121b,121So, does this impact you guys as consumer/users and creators of IP? b,121b,121In the tech world we are deeply suspicious of these1bills because while they are meant to go after big commercial pirates they inevitably gets used against individuals.b,121b,121/. has info on the fight against this bill.b,121a href="http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/09/27/0255223" target="_blank"1http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/09/27/0255223
