FIREFOX vs. INTERNET EXPLORER?!!?

Ok, I just finally downloaded Firefox, haven't really tried it out yet, though. Are there any politicking tech geeks out there who simply refuse to use IE? Or is Firefox really any good as far as features/security go... They claim the Wall Street Journal gave em props a little while back...

    Firefox = built by a Stanford student and based on Netscape Mozilla. Quite fast and has nifty things like tabs, download tracking, etc. I prefer it over IE and have stopped using IE on PC (way to open to malicious attacks, etc) and Mac.

    Firefox is really a much better browser but usually you are just so accustomed to using IE and all the preferences are set to that anyway. But the Firefox tabs are dope, and everything else they sort of try to model after IE but maybe a little nicer. About as fast once you open the thing up. Not so keen on the way it loads images without figuring out their sizes.

    Firefox is going to be a lot more secure than Internet Explorer if you use either of them as they come installed. If you use the pop-up blocker, keep your shit updated, and don't visit porn sites, Internet Explorer is relatively safe. Internet Explorer is built into the Windows operating system so it is going to always be faster than Firefox, but that's one of the few advantages it has. One problem with Firefox is that some sites do not load correctly/at all in it and it has some problems with random plug-ins.

    Firefox lets you customize the google type search bar at the top of the window to search ebay, imdb, amg, dictionaries, slang dictionaries, and about 200 other databases. I emailed the popsike people (anyone know who they are / he is) about getting them into this, but they didn't respond. But yeah, you are basically retarded if you still use ie.

    i've been using firefox for months now, but i still haven't grown accustomed to it. if you're using a pc, my ultimate preference is IE with the Avant browser skin. it uses the IE browser engine with an interface that kills firefox. it, of course, has tabs and is customizable in almost every way - way moreso than firefox. firefox still lets in pop-ups too - avant doesnt. not to mention it has all the google, amg, imdb, etc search functions and a shitload other extras, hotkeys, mousetricks, blah blah blah. it's all a matter of preference in the end anyways.

    I use firefox. I gave up on explorer when I had dail-up because firefox was quite a bit faster and seemed simplier to me.

    What's the consensus on Firefox V Safari? I was using Firefox but then I stopped for some reason that I cannot recall, and am now back at Safari.

    I believe that Safari is better optimized for Macs than Firefox is, but I could be wrong.

    I love Firefox... but my only complaint is that it seems to be very bad with virtual memory/paging files... If it's been running for a long time it just seems to maintain a HUGE paging file... to the point where Windows will tell me I have insufficient virtual memory allocated. Other than that though, it's aces.

    Everything mentioned can be done in Firefox with add-on free shit. You can add search functions for almost any search on the web, even wikipedia. Also the mouse gestures to go back/forward/home whatever can be added with plugins. Firefox's pop up blocker has been defeated by most ad people now but they'll probably sort that out shortly.

    Note: "Skins" for things that weren't designed to have them, like IE and windows, slow the fuck out of your computer. Not so much for media players and shit, but if you skin windows you're going to hit performance like 20%-40%. Wack und weak.
