Anyone denying the TotalRecall-Predator-Terminator triumvirate have to be riding on a massive wave of cinaste sobbeury and dismissal. b,121b,121Conan and Running Man ain't bad, but run a little higher on the kitsch meter which leads to an inevitable over-valuing amongst the hipster set. b,121b,121True Lies was probably Arnie's last watchable film, but doesn't really transcend the era in which it was made IMO. Not to mention I'll never be able to swallow Jamie Lee Curtis as some natural-born terrorist killer.

Conan isnt kitsch or kitschy. If u check the last twenty years of Marvel Superhero Films its quite dark compared to Spiderman/Fantastic Four or Iron Man.b,121b,121 img src="http://www.barrywindsor-smith.com/galleria/saga4study.gif"1 b,121b,121At the time it came out I as a reader found it daring for someone to even greenlight the Conan character. b,121b,121We'll see how its status is altered once the Red Sonja Project comes out.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Yeah very very loosely Philip K Dick (the basic premise is the same). b,121b,121I'm with Rootless on Predator - anyone who doesn't have that in their top three Arnie films doesn't really love Arnhuld.

Commando for the comedy. "Benn-Att!" The ice-cream on the nose. Rae Dawn Chong.b,121b,121Total Recall because I like the plot. Head getting stuck saying "Two Weeks" and then working perfectly (as a bomb) was again cringeworthy, as was the "Benny" traitor cab driver. But great for "Skruuu youuuu, Bennnahhhy!!!"b,121b,121Terminator for the plot. Arnoldt sticking to what he does best.b,121b,121Conan for James Earl Jones. Good snake morphs. Reminded me of Colonel Kurtz.b,121b,121As a kid I read just about ALL the Conan books and so to see the movie portray him as being tied to a wheel since birth until he looked like "A brown condom full of Walnuts" was teh pffftz0r but otherwise it was the best Sword and Slaughtery flick.

1.b1Terminator[/b] - he's there for the megaman physique, and considering the role, his wooden acting works perfectly for the part of future robot killing machine. "Fock you ahz-hole"b,121b,1212. Predator[/b] - although re-watching it now, much of the film is un-intentionally hilarious. Having just blown up the rebel jungle camp, killed everything in sight, let off 10,000 rounds of ammo, torched buildings etc, Ahnold turns to Billy the Native American philosopher/Navy SEAL/tracker bloke, and says "Make it look like we weren't here". Billy is obviously good at reconstructing buildings, machinery, scorched earth etc with bits of bamboo, ferns and mud, and pretty good a digging mass-graves. However, quote of the film goes to the excellently cast Blain (WWF's very own Jesse Ventura). Offering some chewing tobacco, he explains "This stuff will make you a god-damn sexual Tyrannosaurus... just like me"b,121b,1213. Conan[/b] - again, the less dialogue the better. Best unintentionally hilarious bit of acting in this film is from Arnie: having fallen into the barrow and discovered an old warriors sword, he cuts loose his shackles, brings the sword up to within kissing-distance of his face and shoots the camera his very best blue steel sexy-time look. Conan punches a camel out in this film - but Mongo punched a horse out cold before this in Blazing Saddles.b,121 b,1214. Total Recall[/b] - mainly for the Philip K. Dick influence that gives us the red & green pill paradox. Cool mutants and special effects.b,121b,1215. Running Man[/b] - if only for the mock-commercials; I really don't think it will be long before they make Climbing For Dollars.
