The Rain In Spain McCain (Alzheimer???s Edition)

Evidently McEternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind/b1 had a Senior Momement while being interviewed by Spanish news channel Uni??n Radio. After asking McMemento/b1 about Hugo Chavez, the situation in Bolivia and then about Raul Castro and getting standard answers expected from the candidate the interviewer changes things up and asks him about Spanish Prime Minster Zapatero??? b,121b,121McBeing There/b1 says in a ???very loose translation -- that he'll establish close relations with our friends and stand up to those who want to do us harm. The interviewer has a double take and seems to think McCain might be confused. So she asks it again. But McCain sticks to the same evasive answer.???b,121b,121Um, are we going to war with Spain?b,121b,121It seems that this hasn???t hit the main stream media yet, but is all over Spain???s news media??? Talking Points Memo has been all over this???b,121b,121a href="http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/217744.php"1target="_blank"1http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/217744.phpb,121b,121img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/MJ.gif" alt="" 21b,121b,121Edit: Evidently I forgot to comment that it seems that McStroke doesn't know who Zapatero is and this is troubling for me because the candidate has staked foreign policy as an area of expertise.b,121b,121Also there is a better summary here at Huffington Post:b,121a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/18/bizarre-mccain-remarks-ap_n_127346.html"1target="_blank"1http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/18/bizarre-mccain-remarks-ap_n_127346.html

  • So one of the issues with this story is that the audio of the interview contained Spanish translations that made the original in English interview impossible or hard to hear... So now the untranslated English interview is available:b,121b,121iframe allowtransparency="true" height='65' src="http://www.cadenaser.com/player_mini.html?xref=20080918csrcsrint_1.Aes" frameborder=0 name="20080918csrcsrint_1"1scrolling='no'1/iframe1b,121b,121Um, I am confused, wasn't Palin supposed to be the one that didn't know jack about foreign policy. I mean come on, McJoke doesn't know one of our NATO allies? Its pretty obvious that McSame was using a generic response when asked about Prime Minister Zapatero.b,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/weaksauce.gif" alt="" 21 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nagl2.gif" alt="" 21

If this in any way affects wine coming in from Spain I will go apeshit.

  • I just listened to the interview and it appears that McCain was talking about South America the entire time. b,121b,121You know, the place where they speak Mexican.

Sad. She really tries to save him but he just can't figure out what she's talking about. This will hurt him in the latin community. I love this part where she forgets what she wants to ask because she is so flustered by his lack of knowledge.

This is crazy, but I think it needs to be filed under "gaffes Americans won't understand or care about". b,121b,121That said, McCain is looking more and more out of it, and out of his depth (anyone see Maddow's clip of his November economics interview??) If the media can latch onto "McCain doesn't know where Spain is,"1it could feed into the "out of touch" narrative the Obama camp is pushing right now. b,121b,121Damn, shit is feeling better than 3 days ago, and all1it took was a complete meltdown of the economy. Still a long way to go, and many dirty tricks to come. Breath deeply everyone.b,121b,121 img src="http://www.rosenbergradio.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/political-pictures-barack-obama-chill-out-got-this.jpg"1

  • The rain in Spain does not actually fall on the plain but falls mostly in Galicia which is very hilly.

  • Chill out on the ageism and unnecessarily use of bold text and I might be more inclined to take your posts seriously.

  • Yeah, use of "McSame" and the like almost always make me fast forward through a poast.

  • use of bold lettering on some "hey-did-you-notice-how-clever-this-word-is" always makes me fastforward.

  • This is some sad shit, it makes me wonder if he's figured out the difference between Sunni and Shia yet.
