How do you feel about this? Do you pump this shit... skip it... got off on it? I have to admit , I am perturbed by it. Like get an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I guess I'm a prude. b,121b,121b,121 img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/463.gif" alt="" 21

font class="post"1b,121b,121Depends on the context. While I'm doing dishes? Cool. When it pops up on my iTunes at work? Not so much.

I remember once, I think I was listening to an lp that had a pure moaning track, (may have been the first N.E.R.D lp?) and my flatmate was fusking his hella annoying girlfriend, and she liked to get real loud, just so EVERYONE knew she was getting sum. b,121So for once I didn't skip the track, but turned it up to 11, to drown the 'itch out.

Ninety-nine percent of the time I hate it. It's super creepy and it's also kind of a lazy, trite creative decision akin to sampling dialog from Scarface or throwing some shitty sitar on a track to make it sound "out there". Many a good disco/funk groove or psychedelic freakout has been made unbearable by cheesy fake orgasms.

Hahaha bad memories of playing Ready to Die real loud on my parents stereo the first time I ever listened to it back in the day.. oof. b,121b,121Seriously though, I find this shit hella contrived when it's on a record.b,121Moaning in music has roughly the same realness level that dialogue does in porn.

The moaning intro on "Se acabo" remix by Beatnuts is pretty f*d up.

  • French Kiss is an faked orgasm classic though. Would I enjoy it as much if it came on the radio with my grandma around? Doubt it. b,121b,121It's the same as when you're watching a film/tv program with your parents and a sex scene kicks in. No-one knows where to look...

font class="post"1b,121b,121I love French Kiss, and the moaning is more tolerable than on a lot of other songs I can think of, but really I would prefer the track without it.

The only time I've ever been vaguely entertained by this is at the end of Apollonia 6 "Some Kind Of Lover", where after faking an extended orgasm for 30 or so seconds Brenda giggles as the song fades out and says "I'm so embarassed". That's funny.

font class="post"1b,121b,121I had to chuckle about this the other day. I was at a free outdoor festival thingy a couple weeks back, which in truth was more like a family fun day, loads of parents and little kids running around. Well, in between the bands there was a dj playing, and was spinning jungle fever, and all these little 3-4 year olds were kid-dancing to it, while their parents were all looking on slightly sheepish. I was secretly hoping he'd follow it up with Girls LGBNAF, just for laffs, but that sadly didn't happen.

  • Music for Sensuous Lovers by "Z" is a moaning classic.

font class="post"1b,121b,121But it wouldn't really be "French Kiss"1without the moaning. would it? Same goes for most of the songs in this category.b,121b,121"Coming And Going"1by The Ray Brown Orchestra is another good one.b,121b,121I am pro panting.

I guess it depends on where you play the record...b,121When I was doing my 70s sexploitation parties, I even had girls over at the house to record moaning sessions onto tape while listening to specific instrumental tracks over the headphones. This was in the early 90s -pre-consumer CD recorder -so I had to give the tapes which were systematically labeled by names to a store to do the transfers onto CD. The whole staff looked at me funny when I went back to pick them up. Always had a portable CD player hidden away behind the DJ booth to spice things up. Of course, the moment had to be carefully selected but I never had any complaints...b,121b,121Years later, in NYC, I did a remix (that never was issued) of "the lion & the cucumber" from the Vampyros Lesbos album. I had Bambou (Serge Gainsbourg's widow) in the studio to lay some heavy sex breathing over the finished track. She seemed nervous about what I wanted her to do, saying she's never done this before in a studio, I asked -but you recorded "sex on the beat"? She answered with a shy smile "no... that wasn't in the studio, Serge had hidden a tape recorder under the bed and I didn't know about it..."

I heartily endorse the intro to Kwest the Mad Lad's album. That's funny stuff.

  • One of the weirdest musical moments happened a few months ago when I had my iPod on shuffle and the Chakachas'"Jungle Fever" came either right before or right after a gospel song. Granted, no one heard the mix but me, but that was one hell of a transition...

Armando Travaioli's 'Sessomatto' isn't too bad. But yeah, the moaning on Jungle Fever is a bit much. Sheeba's version is waaay better.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Ha, I was just thinking about that joint on the way to work. The album, not just that particular track. Doesn't she say his government name at some point? I can't make it out though.
