It puts a smile on my face everytime I see 'dancing man'. He's a legend in these parts.

  • The Black Lone Ranger was a fixture around Chicago blues clubs for years, until his death ten years ago. Some of the finest moments in my performing life was playing harmonica behind him. The rap group Crucial Conflict even used him for a cameo in a video they made. Incidentally, he didn't just wear the getup for show, I used to see him riding the bus dressed like that...b,121b,121Here's an excerpt from a 1996 appearance on the first episode of Chic-A-Go-Go, a long running local cable access dance-party show:b,121b,121object width="425" height="344"1param name="movie" value=""1/param1param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"1/param1embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"1/embed1/object1

font class="post"1b,121b,121Maybe Zendik Farm was founded in California back in 1969 like Wikipedia says, but the first few years I was in Austin (89-93)...Zendik Farm had not only relocated to a spot just south of Austin, but Wulf and his wife did a weekly show on ACTV and their farmers were constantly on the Drag recruiting new members.

b1The Homeless Digger aka DJ Biscuit/b1 b,121b,121Anyone in Houston and LA that have been digging in the last 10 years know this guy. Crazy bastard LIVES to dig. Constantly smells and is getting himself into trouble with his lip. You'd seem him pushing a cart down the road filled with vinyl and I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that the man came with some serious heat on the regular. Have a few old friends that swear up and down, he's one mean DJs. One time someone gave him my number when he came back to Houston for a stint and he blew my phone up, calling me 10 times a day+ for a week straight. b,121I wish I could find his picture.

I live in a crack area and there are a few homes for psychiatric outpatients south of us, so there are a fair amount of eccentrics. My favourite person, who is not on crack, is a young dude in a pressed shirt and slacks with a backpack who hangs out by the library pacing and swaying. I walk by him to get home in the evenings and it has taken around three months of me smiling and saying hello for him to now make eye contact and smile back. I am disappointed when I turn the corner and he is not there. He has a great calming effect and I know I???m almost home.

font class="post"1b,121b,121Very sad. My cousin has recently been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and it's a very scary mental disorder. I cannot imagine the horror he went through when his mind turned on him. He told me some very bugged-out stories that were obviously hallucinations and delusions.b,121b,121He lost his job, his car, and friends and most family have abandoned him. Creditors are after him and his meds have made him fat, lethargic, and hollowed out his natural emotions. It's hard watching him go through it.b,121b,121He is well-read, articulate, well-travelled, well-dressed and knows good food, wine, he's funny as hell, etc. He has been hospitalized twice. He is 29. He is slowly becoming 'a local eccentric'.
