    Bought this when it came out. I was kinda disappointed that some of the better stories were told in other books (like Peter Guralnick's Sweet Soul Music), and even then, he couldn't start talking about Otis Redding or Aretha Franklin without reciting basic facts you could have gotten from any ole rock encyclopedia. I know sometimes you need a little background, but even so...b,121b,121But once you get past that...the stories about his personal life (his family at home, his relationship with Ahmet Ertegun and various industry folk, etc.) are riveting.

    Read this in high school right when I first started to really get into soul. Still got it on the shelf, even tho I remember almost none of it all these years later. May have to pull it out again....
