i have used the 1000 for quite a while now with out it once ever crashing
Same here - don't know where that comes from.
I've had close friends who have had nightmares with the 1000 live and just in general. I hear its just really shitty construction and theres a lot of glitches. Pads die fast... stuff gets stuck... turns on without pushing buttons.
they are the same machine they do the same things the zip function on the 2000 sometimes freezes maybe you can find one that doesnt i know a lot of heads that hate the 2000 cuz the zip freezes i like the screen tilt on the xl. i have had both and they both sound great the 2000 DOES NOT SOUND BETTER THEN THE XL that is a myth and a load of dookie they sound the same the pads are the same for the most part os is the same but that is comparing the old xls with built in floppy. i cannot sound off on the new plastik blue ones with flash drive i dont know about them but i imagine their straight the 2000 is nice but the minute you have it freeze up on you when saving to zip and you LOSE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING ON FOR THE LAST TWO HOURS you will know why the 2000 sometimes sucks about saving. and remember any mpc is better then makin beats on a laptop any day of the week and on christmas.
the 16 bit ones sound pretty true to the original sound (at least the 2000 does for me). The corny sound comes from people over using the filters and time stretch. If you leave things dry it should sound like what you recorded. The main advantage of using an mpc is the pads and the sequencer. If you can't figure out how to record into it and make it sound decent then you've probably got a wonky set up.
i think that's the key to make your drums bangin...i eq my sounds before i sample em...i never relied on the effects in the machine cuz they suck
