REAL WORLD (trashy TV related)

Fess up - who of y'all ever watched this show, and what was your favorite cast? (And don't get on some high-falutin', I-only-watch-edjamacated-shows-like-Nova steez...)Myself, I watched the first ten years of it, then stopped, reasons being: (a) I was tired of seeing the same plotlines recycle themselves with new casts, and (b) I was too old to relate to them anymore. But for a decade there, that show was my "jam." Tried to get into Road Rules, but it didn't have that same staying power. What got me on this jag was reading an article about the show in the new ish of Details. And like they implied in the article, in retrospect it's interesting to see the earliest seasons, because the first NY cast (1992) and the San Francisco house (1994) are relics of those P.C. early nineties, with earnest, hipster, "alternative" types from Cobain's America. The season in the middle (L.A., '93) and all the seasons since are pretty much as shallow as you'd expect...

...BTW, anybody remember the New Orleans season where the seven housemates had to produce one cable access TV show apiece, and one of them did a show about music? And he had two of the Frickin' funky Meters on the show and didn't know what to ask them?

I've prolly seen at least 1-2 episodes of each season, and several whole or near-whole seasons. it's formulaic and stupid. but I fucks with it.

it's also gotten smuttier over the years, which is nice. the first night let's-get-drunk-and-naked-in-the-hottub is always a good scene.

I always find myself thinking, "damn now if I was in this house right now I would mack on that chick, smack the shit out of that dude, and throw a massive party in that house..."

I wonder what Full Force is up to these days. Still in the production game?

I think I watched most of the eps up to Hawaii. Then just a few eps of each season til Back to New York and then none after that season.

Tho, I did check out a few eps of Key West when a friend told me Svetlana was hot.

    Heather B first season!

    Svetlana was hot.

she was. but she was a nightmare.

there's been some cuties over the years; no doubt.

I always had a thing for this one:

there have been a few over the years that warrant the blap.

I started a "most blappable reality tv chick" thread at some point although it died with a quickness (prolly for the best).

    BANDS ON THE RUN

    Another show, another thread.

I'm talkin' 'bout Real World, not "Rep Yo' Favorite Reality Show."

(although Bands On The Run was a good show and I was disappointed it wasn't renewed)
